Veršatyl

It was back in 2012, when we, Kristyna and Marketa, met at  an economics class. At that time I would have never dreamed that within a year we would decide to launch a fashion brand. The idea to establish Veršatyl came to existence in early 2013 when I first told Marketa about reflecting upon a dress, which could be varied by different applications and accessories. I wanted to create it from a high-quality material to withstand the test of time.

The idea to establish Veršatyl came to existence in early 2013 when I first told Marketa about reflecting upon a dress, which could be varied by different applications and accessories. Each of us contributed to the concept with our ideas. We wanted to make our clothes versatile, while minimalist, which encourages customers to be creative. From the beginning, we have kept in mind that we want to help revive the Czech clothing industry, which, for many regions in the Czech Republic, was one of the main and characteristic industries.

For a long time, we couldn‘t choose from a supply offered by fashion chains, mainly due to the deteriorating quality of materials and workmanship. We have to admit, however, we were brought to Veršatyl, among others, also by the fact that we knew a very skillful seamstress who had been missing some creative activity for quite a long time. We felt, perhaps it was time to make use of this high-quality craft potential. In the same philosophy, we have sought for another seamstress and our paths have led to the Highlands of the Czech Republic. This region has a long tradition in the production of fabrics where there still live many capable seamstresses who were unfortunately forced by the market to work in a different field.

In Paris, at the Premier Vision fair, we first realised that we couldn’t afford to order even the minimum quantity of fabric, so we decided to look around in the Czech Republic. We found a company from Brno, whose director was enthusiastic about the concept of Veršatyl and decided to support the project. He has enabled us to produce the quantity that was acceptable for Veršatyl in the beginning and his company produced our typical material, black knit from which we produce basic Veršatyl designs.

Veršatyl acts socially responsible by not creating unnecessary waste. When fabric surplus arises, we primarily donate it to art schools. Our seamstresses work from the comfort of their own home or studio and have flexible working hours. We inform our customers about the advantages of hand washing, thus saving water and slowing the aging process of the material.
